We are thrilled to share that the statue of Archangel Gabriel has been safely removed from its pedestal after more than 120 years, and our company was honoured to be part of this extraordinary project.
We were commissioned by Arteum Tender Ltd. to carry out georadar measurements in the area around the statue's pedestal. The aim of the measurements was to provide information about the condition of the subsoil beneath the pavement, necessary for the installation of a heavy-duty crane required for the statue's removal.
Through radar measurements conducted over more than 1000 m², we gained insight into the underground world of one of Budapest's most well-known landmarks. We were able to localize the locations of former utility shafts alongside the well-known, and now forgotten, convoluted utility network pipes.
The information obtained in this way greatly increased the safe installation of the crane and the trouble-free lifting of the statue of the Archangel Gabriel. We look forward to seeing Gabriel return to his usual place, shining in its original glory, after the subsequent renovation and repair.
